What type of gas is used for domestic installations?
We use LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) for domestic applications, which is safe, efficient, and readily available.
How often should my gas installation be serviced?
We recommend an annual service to ensure your system remains safe, efficient, and compliant with current regulations.
Do I need a certified installer for a gas appliance?
Yes. In South Africa, all gas installations must be done by a SAQCC-registered gas installer and must include a Certificate of Compliance (CoC). If your suspicious, the installers photo will appear on the SAQCC website please view my details here.
Where should gas cylinders be installed on my property?
Gas cylinders are typically installed outdoors in a well-ventilated area, with safe clearance from doors, windows, drains, and electrical points. However, in kitchens without outdoor access, a single 9kg gas bottle may be installed inside a ventilated cupboard, provided proper safety vents are fitted in accordance with regulations.

Absolutely. When installed by a registered professional and maintained regularly, gas is a safe and reliable energy source.
What is the SANS 10087-1:2024 standard?
It’s the South African National Standard that outlines safety and installation requirements for gas systems. All AVH Gas installations comply with this standard.

Will my gas appliances work during load-shedding?
Yes. Gas appliances operate independently of electricity, making them an excellent solution during power outages. Please note that some appliances might require manual ignition during a power outage or load-shedding.
What is a Certificate of Compliance (CoC), and why is it important?
A CoC is a legal document that confirms your gas installation was done by a registered installer and complies with South African safety standards. It's required when selling your property or for insurance purposes.
